Students have endless opportunities at St. Ambrose, including the chance to hear professional speakers. Bringing motivational speakers to campus is one of the best ways to reach out to students. Student Advisory Council (SAC) has arranged for Brian Tracy, a best-selling author and professional speaker to visit SAU. Tracy, who has helped over four million people achieve their goals, will be speaking on Tuesday, March 9 in the Allaert Auditorium of the Galvin Fine Arts Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Brian Tracy is a best-selling author and professional speaker who specializes in the training and development of individuals and organizations. His books and programs work to help people achieve their personal and business goals. A few of his most famous books include The Way to Wealth, Many Miles to Go, Change Your Thinking Change Your Life, and Eat That Frog!
Ann Hull, president of SAC, said Tracy stood out to the council during their extensive search of many different speakers.
"He gave us the opportunity to voice our opinions on what we would like to hear or topics we would enjoy learning more about," Hull said. "He wanted to customize his presentation in order to truly reach our particular audience."
SAC is a group of students in the College of Business who serve to bridge the gap between education and professionalism. It's a group of students working to help students by raising money for scholarships and providing opportunities like motivational speakers.
Ashley Schroeder, a member of the council, had read Tracy's best-selling book Eat That Frog!, a book on ways to stop procrastinating, and was particularly happy that he agreed to visit SAU.
Schroeder said, "the purpose of this event is to bring big-name speakers to St. Ambrose and let students experience it."
This is the second year SAC has had a professional guest. Last year they had a successful turnout with Jack Canfield, co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books.
"This is something we'd like to see continue in the next few years," Schroeder said. "It gives us and other students a chance to experience the business world while we're still in school."
In Tracy's customized speech for SAU, he will be speaking about how to achieve goals, increase sales, personal motivation, creating wealth, building your business and leadership.
The cost is $5 for students, but each student who attends receives one of two books by Tracy--The Way to Wealth or Many Miles to Go. Basically, Ambrose students are getting a $25 book and a motivational speech for the price of $5.
"It's an event that can help better yourself," Schroeder said. "It allows us to give back to the university."
Attending Brian Tracy's presentation is a way to take advantage of what SAC has to offer and learn how to achieve goals faster.
