Weather is pushing a nerve

It is mid-April and the weather is still trying to keep itself in winter. This is getting ridiculous.
I think everyone will agree with me that we are ready for some 60-70 degree days with plenty of sun. It's that time of year when the weather should be getting to that point instead of snowing. And what has been going on with the snow? It is APRIL. I get tired of that stuff if it is still coming down in mid-February, much less mid-April.
We had a really harsh winter and this is a lot better than the negative 40 degree days we had at the beginning of the semester, but I'm ready for the average of 60 that we should be getting by now and not having to leave the room without a coat anymore.
Maybe one of the reasons I'm so upset with the weather is because it pushed back Opening Day for my favorite baseball team, the Chicago White Sox. I count down to Opening Day every year starting at the beginning of February. So this year, my countdown went two months…one month…three weeks…10 days…one day…one more day. It just let me down for a full day. I was ready for the Sox to return to my life and all my weird, psychotic superstitions (if you know me, you know what I'm talking about) to begin again, but I had to wait an extra day.
I'm back on track now that it is a few days later, but just having to watch every other team open up on Monday was tough while I just got ready for the NCAA basketball championship game that night. And it was all because snow and 30 degree weather decided to come back to the Midwest in April.
Eventually it will warm up and the days of summer will come. I know we can't do anything about the weather, but most of us wish we could.
I am a sports intern at WQAD-TV in Moline and every time I'm there, I ask the weathermen when it's going to warm up. They tell me it will be coming soon and they can prove it because it happens every year. At least history is on our side.
But while we continue to put on those coats and leave the shorts in the drawer, I just hope the weather doesn't claim any more White Sox games or any more of the spring weather we should be having by now.
